Our minds are tricky and can be filled with habitual thought patterns, PTSD driven, co-dependent, overactive mind, stress driven, etc.. It can be so challenging to create a positive life and truly experience hope and possibilities when your mind is spinning out in any of these directions. Along with grounding practices I've found that mantras are a powerful way to both give my mind something to do and keep a creative positive focus.
One place I've found mantras to be particularly helpful is with a specific thought pattern I'm working with healing. For example the voice in my head that says, "You are in trouble, you've done something wrong," or the one that says "You're not beautiful enough or your belly is too big so people won't love you."
As soon as the negative thought enters my mind I begin in with my mantra, repeating it until I feel I have control of my thoughts again. It helps to boost the power of your mantra. Spend some time cultivating it. 15-30 minutes of truly allowing it to enter my being by repeating it, resonating with it, and rolling it around inside myself means when I need to reach for it I have a strong foundation.
When the unwanted thoughts come the mantra flows easily in my mind because the pattern has already begun to settle into me. It still takes a bit of effort to override those ingrained thought patterns.
With each new phase of healing a new neurosis or habituated thought pattern emerges as primary. Then it's time for a new mantra.
I've found that eventually a mantra seeps into my being and becomes less needed. Sometimes I'll even forget about it for a while. This marks a plateau phase of healing.
Your mantra should feel like a healing balm to the particular pain created by the neurotic thinking you are experiencing. It may feel unbelievable at first. It may feel like a stretch. But somehow you feel deep down it is the antidote to what ails you.
I often work with mantras with my healing clients. It gives people a practice that they can develop within themselves and anchors the healing into their body and daily life. Spiritual practices are not separate from living. They become the breath of our living, infusing life with meaning.
I like mantras that have a thought with the IN breath and one on the OUT breath.
For example my first abundance mantra:
I accept myself (IN breath)
And trust the flow (OUT breath)
Once you have developed your mantra it is helpful to spend some time cultivating it. Breath in and out, relax, let it roll around inside you. 15-30 minutes is a great start.
If you have a regular meditation practice this is a good time to allow your mantra to take you to that deeper place within yourself.
Once your mantra is settled on and you have begun to cultivate it regularly, try repeating it while you are driving or washing dishes, then you will have it when those persistent thought patterns come.
These mantras can inspire you to create your own. Keep working with it till you create one that resonates with you. It must be yours and you must feel connected to it. This is what makes it powerful.
10 mantras for life
I would love to hear from you if one of these mantras helps you. They are meant for inspiration. Sometimes when you choose a mantra it changes as you repeat it. Go with the natural process and guidance of your soul.
If you would like more support I work with clients both in my healing space and over the phone.
What does a vibrational healer do?
My job is to be a mirror, a reflection of your longing to expand beyond your current limits of experience.
One of the distortions we often have is that our problems need fixing. We moralize them (make them wrong/bad) which keeps us stuck in duality. But our problems are here to highlight our longing to experience oneness. Oneness is the wholeness of all that is where we experience union, harmony, love, and all that fulfills us. Our problems are the points where we still experience separateness.
It is only when we begin to know our responsibility and to make new choices that we can be free of our current limitations and change our day to day experience. That is what we all want right?
Energy healing supports your personal journey to more love and freedom, to connection, happiness, harmony and fulfillment.
The path is one of personal choice and deeper understanding of yourself. As a healer I would be remiss to interfere with that process by telling you there’s something wrong with you or what I think you should heal.
The most powerful tools of healing are intention, willingness and choice. All of these flow from your essence, from your inner being. Everything I do as s healer is in service to these.
Healing is about your soul. It is about your journey to remember who you really are. That is why it is so important that it come from you.
The healing path is not for the faint of heart. We become very attached to our limits and negative attitudes. Healing that attachment can feel painful. But it is nothing compared to the pain of staying stuck in limitation which is the pain of separation from our true essence: love.
This journey is the most rewarding and fulfilling because it is the path to who you truly are.
Boundaries are knowing where I begin and where I end,
and inhabiting that space with love.
Everyone I talk to including myself, my partner, friends and healing clients are actively working to heal codependency. This means in part, boundary work. It is time for us to live with natural boundaries that emanate from the core of our self love.
I had an epiphany last year while was receiving a healing from my teacher. I experienced what it feels like to love yourself because when I was near her I found myself loving her, respecting her boundaries, and loving myself more. Her self love communicated something to my soul in that moment. I realized that boundaries are essentially self love.
I felt that natural boundaries do not have to be enforced with force because they emanate from a harmonious alignment with a person’s inner most being. This is a kind of subtle embodiment. The love one feels for one’s self fills out to the edges of interaction with the world. Rather than creating friction it communicates love and therefore love is received in return. It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes.
“Love is essentially self – communicative; those who do not have it catch it from those who have it. Those who receive love from others cannot be it’s recipients without giving a response that, in itself, is the nature of love.”
Meher Baba, Discourses p. 9
I've noticed for myself and in my relationships with friends that when we first begin learning boundaries we put a lot of force behind them. The fierceness behind these boundaries causes discord and more pain in our relationships. The quality of a false boundary is rigid, hard, forceful and can feel harsh to us and the people who we are in relationship with. Our heart wants harmony and cooperation with others but we feel we have to impose boundaries to take care of ourselves.
True boundaries rooted in self love are not rigid and fixed. They emanate the essence and sweetness of love which automatically relates in harmonious and cooperative interaction with the world around you.
Vibrational healing is one way to support your self love and boundaries that emanate from the essence of your being.
It doesn't have to be painful or confusing to have natural boundaries. It can come easily and with joy.
Where you feel frustrated now is an indicator of where you know deep down
3rd Chakra: The solar plexus radiates like the sun from our inner being. It is our true essence shining into the world. We are powerful beings. Look out for covering this chakra (below your ribcage) unconsciously. Let your power shine.
Second Chakra: The second chakra is the center of our creativity. It is where we bring the spirit of the 7th chakra in combination with the earth energy of the 1st chakra into physical form in the creation of children service. It is the womb of the energy system. It is easy to let the pleasure and sensuality of this chakra distract from it's true creative potential which is to create the life we long for most. The life devoted to love.
1st Chakra: The energy of this chakra radiates downward and reaches from the earth all they way up through the crown. It is the second opening in our open energetic system. It opens to the energy of the earth. This is the chakra that allows us to feel grounded not by squashing us or anchoring us but by connecting us to the energetic support of the planet we have chosen for this life. Our culture believes enlightenment comes from ascending into the mind and beyond. Our task on this earth is to be here and be fully spirit in our physical bodies. Our root chakra is essential for connecting us to time and place so that we can create in the physical realm.
7th Chakra: The crown is open to universal energy and is connected to higher consciousness. It is one end of our open system and connects all the way through the first chakra into the earth. It is the mind- what our culture believes is the source of enlightenment. If we believe the mind is our main source of light, life, energy and hope we can grounding can feel oppressive and the heart can feel unimportant.
6th Chakra: The third eye sees deeply into the self. Cultivating honesty and acceptance of the human condition with compassion. The third eye understands why we are here and why we do what we do. It is here we see ourselves through the eyes of mature love. Where we know we are not God, nor are we the tantruming child. It is where we understand that we have life tasks and we accept them.
5th Chakra: This chakra brings the vibrations of universal energy and potential into the physical realm. The throat is where we learn to express the vibration of our heart. It becomes distorted and frustrated when we prioritize what comes from our mind. The task here is to remember our heart's expression and bring it forth.
4th Chakra: The heart is the center of the energy system blending earth energy (blood) with the etherial (air) and pumping it through our physical body. The heart has an energetic field larger than any other part of our being. It communicates to other hearts without words. It has it's own intelligence. Our culture is ashamed of heart decisions and is just learning recognize love beyond romance. It takes a brave heart to choose love when the collective mind cannot accept it. Can you feel vibration in your heart chakra? The center is on your breast bone between your nipples. Most of us feel more in our 7th chakra. Our task on earth at this time is to balance the two chakras.
